Curriculum Intent

Our ambition and intent for PE, in line with the National Curriculum, is that it inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. Opportunities to compete in sport build character and embed our core values of Responsibility, Respect, Courage and Compassion. The unique contribution PE makes to Blackwell is that there is enriched active learning through a wide range of decision making experiences where progression of skills is visible. Learners’ understand the importance of keeping themselves healthy and understand that a healthy lifestyle can help to develop self-esteem and live a positive lifestyle as well as the benefits to their mental well-being. During PE lessons, children are taught resilience and teamwork as they work together to develop their skills and Learners’ understand the importance of sportsmanship.
