CEDAR & OAK

Spring Term 2024

The Curriculum Overview for the Spring Term is attached below.

The children should be reading every day at home either independently or to an adult. Comments can be made in the Home Reading Diaries. We also expect the children to be practicing their times tables during the week as part of their Out of Lesson Learning (OLL). If your child does not understand any OLL, please encourage them to speak to us during the week and we will provide support.

HOME READING DIARIES

Regular reading with your child will really support them with their learning across all areas of the curriculum, as reading underpins so much of the work that we do. Please could you encourage, and ensure, your child is reading on a daily basis, either independently or preferably with an adult. Time spent reading should be recorded in the ‘Home Reading Diary.’ This needs to be brought into school every day, as they enable us to see what the children are reading at home. It also gives us a space to make a comment when we read with them.

Ways to support your child

  • Provide a quiet place for study.
  • Support and encourage your child in their organisation of OLL.
  • Listen to your child read.
  • Practice times tables.

  • Children can have two pairs of shoes in school: outdoor shoes for playtime and indoor shoes.
  • Please make sure that all items of school uniform and P.E. kit are named, so that if they are misplaced they can be easily returned to the rightful owner!
  • Named water bottles should be brought in everyday and placed in the trays.
